Taking the Colonial Home challenge-giveaway

10:09 PM

Karen at the Colonial Home is having a giveaway and we are to post about the name of our blog & how we got started in blogland to enter. The short version-So here goes: Well, my everyday blog is "Rhodes Creations" named after (Rhodes is my last name) what I call my Handmade craft creations business. I started with baking and trying to sell baked goods around the neighborhood and yard sales and it was very hit and miss..Then I got a sewing/embroidery machine in 2007 after being inspired by a friend from church that had one. So from there, I expanded on different things to try to see what people wanted to buy. As I got more into the internet and computer I got ideas from there and got into fall festivals and selling things at consignment shops and booths at shops. I finally got into more prim/country by a fluke by getting on some prim blogs and didn't even know what a blog was. It wasn't until a year later that I figured out what one was and how instrumental they are in getting exposure on the net. Gina from Cat Nap Inn Primitives was very instrumental in getting me started as she was one of the first ones I started "following" and asked her some pointers in getting started...Me being a cat lover, I was just drawn to her blog, of course! I started that over a year ago (Feb 2011) and have been helped and inspired tremendously by my blogging friends. I started out with the above picture as my first header when I started my blog...

  1. Hi Laura,
THANKS FOR JOINING IN MY CHALLENGE...I love how you came about with your business and blog - goodness, I think most of us 'crafters' started out 'hit and miss' until we found our niche.
    Blessings,
    Karen
